NHL Central Division Preview: Nashville Predators

2022-23 NHL Season

Depth, Defense Lead Predators’ Stanley Cup Hopes

The Nashville Predators enter the 2022-23 NHL season with aspirations of making a deep playoff run. Led by a strong core of players and a stout defense, the Predators believe they have what it takes to compete for the Stanley Cup.

Nashville's offense is led by Filip Forsberg, who is coming off a career year in which he scored 42 goals and added 42 assists. Forsberg is one of the most dangerous players in the NHL and will be counted on to continue to produce at a high level.

The Predators also have a number of other offensive weapons, including Matt Duchene, Ryan Johansen, and Mikael Granlund. Duchene is a skilled playmaker who can create scoring chances for his teammates, while Johansen is a physical presence who can score goals and play defense.

Nashville's defense is one of the best in the NHL, led by Roman Josi. Josi is a Norris Trophy candidate who is one of the most complete defensemen in the league. He can play both ends of the ice and is a key part of the Predators' power play.

The Predators also have a number of other solid defensemen, including Mattias Ekholm, Alexandre Carrier, and Jeremy Lauzon. Ekholm is a physical presence who can block shots and make big hits, while Carrier is a young, up-and-coming defenseman who is expected to take on a bigger role this season.

Nashville's goaltending is also a strength, with Juuse Saros emerging as one of the best young goaltenders in the NHL. Saros is a quick, athletic goalie who can make big saves when his team needs them.

The Predators have all the pieces in place to make a run at the Stanley Cup this season. They have a strong offense, a stout defense, and a solid goaltender. If they can stay healthy and play to their potential, they will be a force to be reckoned with.
